Impact assessment of food-system policies

June 11, 2024 / 09:3011:00

Current food systems are neither healthy, nor sustainable. Without changes towards healthier and more sustainable food systems, it is unlikely that dangerous levels of climate change can be avoided. In my presentation, I provide an overview of food-system policies that can contribute to transforming food systems. This includes analyses of the health and environmental implications of a set of informational and fiscal policies. They include changes in dietary guidelines, the emissions or health pricing of foods, reforms of value-added taxation, reform of agricultural subsidies, and reform of trade agreements. For each of these policies, I will discuss their potential impacts at global and regional levels based on quantitative modelling assessments I have conducted.
